The Political Thought of Jean Bodin

Abstract

This paper discusses the political thought of the French thinker Jean Bodin, focusing on his theory of sovereignty and the origin of the state. It examines the influence of political and social conditions in France on his ideas and analyzes the concept of absolute sovereignty and its limitations. The study also compares different forms of government from Bodin's perspective.

Lexical Borrowing Between Rejection and Acceptance

Abstract

This study addresses the phenomenon of lexical borrowing in the Arabic language and the influence of other languages such as Persian and Greek throughout history. It discusses the positions of scholars between rejection and acceptance of this phenomenon, reviews the criteria set by linguists to distinguish between Arabized and original words, and touches upon the presence of foreign words in the Holy Quran and the ongoing debate surrounding them.

Cultural Contributions of Prominent Families in Western Sudan

Abstract

This research aims to highlight the cultural and scientific contributions of the Ahl Andagh Muhammad family in the Western Sudan region from the 9th to the 11th century AH. It examines the family's role in judiciary, preaching, education, authorship, and the establishment of libraries, and how they contributed to preserving the Arab-Islamic identity in the region.

Book Review: Libyan Biographies

This book provides an extensive study of the biographies and lives of a group of Libyan scholars and notables across different eras, focusing on their scientific, cultural, and juristic contributions. The author analyzes and profiles prominent figures such as Ahmad Al-Dawardi Al-Tarabulsi, Ahmad Halulu Al-Zalitani, the Al-Hattab family, Abdulrahman Al-Busiri, and others, highlighting their works, manuscripts, and role in spreading knowledge and Maliki jurisprudence. It also sheds light on the cultural relations between Libya and the Maghreb countries, emphasizing the importance of documentation and manuscripts in preserving Libyan heritage.
